November 13 in Września the official laying of foundation stone for the Volkswagen factory was held. The first models of Volkswagen Crafter will be produced in the second half of 2016. The ceremony was attended by deputy prime minister Janusz Piechociński, undersecretary of state at the Ministry of Economy Ilona Antoniszyn-Klik, president of PAIiIZ Sławomir Majman and representatives of the Volkswagen Group.

Deputy prime minister Janusz Piechociński said that decision of the location of the German factory in Poland is a is a confirmation of the investment attractiveness of Poland. “Today’s ceremony is also the beginning, I hope, of the long-term cooperation with local companies able to provide services at a high level”, he added. “Such a big investment as Volkswagen does not happen every day. Either in the country scale, or even on a continental scale”, said president Sławomir Majman.

On the area of 220 ha, a modern car body construction hall, paint shop, assembly hall and suppliers park with logistics space will be created. This investment means also new jobs: 3,000 people will be employed in the plant. “I think that many years will pass before another such great investment will be placed in Europe. I am sure that this project will contribute to the re-industrialization of Poland”, president Majman added.


The biggest investment success this year – Volkswagen

The first models of Volkswagen Crafter will be produced in the second half of 2016.The project will also contribute to the creation of new jobs at suppliers. Currently, the share of Polish suppliers of automotive parts for the Volkswagen factory in Poznań is over 40%.

Volkswagen Poznań company has existed for over 20 years. For 10 years the company produces here vans Volkswagen Caddy and Transporter to markets around the world. Volkswagen Poznań is also one of the largest exporters and automotive companies in Poland. The company  produced more than 2 million cars. Volkswagen’s investment project was led by PAIiIZ.
