Automotive September in Poland

Exactly 40 years ago, in September, 1975, the first Fiat 126P called “Maluch” that motorized the Polish society has been built in Poland. September is also an important moment for Opel as the company starts a new chapter of its history in Poland.
During 27 years, the Fiat factory in Tychy and Bielsko-Biala produced a total of 3,318,674 Fiat 126P cars. The production of this small and very popular vehicles finished in 2000.

The Fiat 126P 40th birthday day coincides with the premier of Opel’s 5th generation of Astra. The car will be produced in Opel’s factory in Gliwice. The official ceremony launching the production of Astra was held in the presence of deputy prime minister Janusz Piechociński.

The automotive sector is one of fastest growing in Poland and one of the most attractive for foreign investors. The portfolio of PAIiIZ automotive projects is the second biggest in terms of number of ongoing investments. Currently the Agency supports 33 such projects worth almost €687 m in total. Due to that, almost 7,500 new jobs may be created in Poland.
